Well the day had come for the boys and girls from L&L to have a party and invited all the other boys and girls to come and share in it and boy oh boy did they turn up or what ? We counted over 150 bikes, trikes and sidecars and over 260 inscriptions which included a staggering 43 L&L members.....just brilliant !

We couldn't have booked better weather or imported more midges, the site was beautiful. The men were pleased with the stunning views of Kirkby Lonsdale, while some of the local rugby team came to have a training which seemed to keep the ladies smiling, I never knew so many of our girls liked or understood the game...or am I missing something ?

The epic ride out saw 59 bikes leave the site but 60 bikes arrived at Hartside cafe ? Sir Cattlegrid's sat-nav seemed to have a dicky-fit and got them all there and back without any farm tracks or cul-de-sacs ( I know I'm known for making stuff up but this is true this time ?) On return to the site everyone, and I do mean everyone said what a stunning ride out it was, this was true but it didn't just happen by chance, there were several dummy runs and lots of planning by Sir Cattlegrid and many others. To top the run off it seems some of it was being filmed by people from the telly ! so all the participents could be T.V. stars of the future ? At night the BBQ was a great hit - not just the bangers and burgers went, even the quorn sausage sold out ! The karaoke night was a run away success, I think Karaoke is Japanese for " can't hold a tune in a bucket" . I think Jim won this hands down, on second thoughts it was hands up and over your ears !

Tracy Quinn as Anistacia went down a treat, especially for the lads, I think there was one comment about her not being suitable for the average age of a Gold Winger, all I can say to that is.......he should have gone to Specsavers ! The fancy dress was excellent, never seen so many coconuts or grass skirts, speaking of grass, one person, who is ex Elite Wings, and had NEVER been camping before, was heard to comment upon seeing the field to camp " where did you get such a big green carpet ?" but over the weekend she learned that the sides of a tent are alot thinner than a hotel wall because now we all know what happened in their tent at night ! A strange type of Japanese shadow theatre but in an odd, adult form. My blackmail demands are in the post ? Malc had been out in the sun too long and his shoulders were really sore and after making a wry comment to Jean who responded by a huge slap to his red shoulders was the funniest thing I saw all weekend, he did go down like a bag of spuds. The Devil's bridge duck race sold out, more ducks next year I think, or a smaller river? But it was worth it to see Denise jump into the river to join in with the younger members.

At one point there was concern for George, who was seen after having his tea, sat outside his camper looking in a forlorn manner at his empty dish as he sat in the evening sun, we asked him if he was ok and he said that he couldn't understand it because usually after his tea he dishes vanish only to re-appear washed and dried but it wasn't happening today and he didn't know why ? We then pointed out that Carole wasn't there yet and she'd only be joining him tomorrow and then things would be back to normal. George cheered up at being told his and then spent the rest of the weekend hunting for his keys - again ? Keys, wallet, phone, George !

All the silliness aside, the first camping L&L Wing Ding was a run away success, it was good to see the amount of support given to us from the other regions and individuals, all mixed together and everyone mucked in to do the jobs that needed doing, many hands DO make light work, so here's to everbody who came and enjoyed themselves - thank you ! See you next year.
